Every year on Halloween we've met at mom & dads. The kids go trick or treating and we have dinner after. Occasionally we've brought friends with us, assuming of course we're pretty sure they won't run away screaming. Individually our neurosis are pretty innocuous but when we're all together we can be a little overwhelming. We as a group can be quite loud, sometimes gross and usually obnoxious. Oh yeah, well maybe that's only a couple of us (ok, Cori & I). Mom has been threatening for years that "this is the last year, you kids need to start your own traditions with your families". But every year we still show up on their doorstep to turn the kids loose on their neighbors and expect to be fed and entertained. And every year they feed us, entertain us and let us raid their liquor. Not to mention, I am positive the neighbors think of us as "those damn Payne kids". This seems entirely normal to me in fact now that THIS IS THE YEAR, I'm at a loss as to what our tradition will become. Because truly, I can't imagine anywhere else I'd want to be or other people I'd want to be with. I think we're pretty lucky to still like each other enough to want to be together. On a side note, notice both my boys are wearing dresses. Makes a mom proud. ;)
