Hope/Relief Mine

Went on another picture taking trip with my brother. We went up to the Hope Mine in Spanish Fork Canyon. I had a sketchy map from a friend of mine, as it turns out it wasn't nearly as detailed as it needed to be. Ryan had done some research and got much better directions. Between the two of us it still took us a bit to get to it. After almost an hour we were able to kind of feel backwards to it (rock on bro). The info I got was that it was no longer in use and there was maybe one old couple there to discourage trespassers. Um, yeah right. We parked the truck and started following the dirt access road only to round a slight curve to 3 maybe 4 inhabited houses. There were 5-6 kids playing in the front of the one yard. We didn't want to get busted right off so we backed up the road a little bit and hiked up the face of the hill. The game trail was meant for things smaller than us but worked out well. We came to a water made ravine that we hiked up through. It was tricky for those of us that struggle in the athletic grace area but, it kept us out the line of sight of the houses & people. Once we got out of the ravine to the next access road up as long as we stayed on the inside we were home free. I was really surprised how open the buildings were. You'd think with the big no trespassing signs and fences they'd lock up the buildings too, but nope. There were a couple of places that had newer heavy duty Master Locks on them but not much. Some really neat stuff; an old hand truck, really old tractor, a cool huge crock my mom would love.
