First I have to say I am so excited to have no more Christmas music! Hala-freaking-lula.
We had a really good Christmas, even in our "old" house with no tree. Christmas Eve was spent with Marks family, Adam was even in town. Good dinner, lots of visiting and of course hogging my cute little nephew Travis. Christmas Day was allot less hectic than normal, started at Scott's, Dave & Marys for breakfast, our house to get ready for the day, to moms and then JD & Kelly's. OMG it was an un-ending stream of family & food. All of it and everyone fantastic, reminds me all I have to feel grateful for. With the boys getting older it has really changed what we buy for Christmas and birthdays, gone are the Matchbox cars, GI Joe's, blocks, anything essentially a "kid" would play with. Taryn's wish list this year was Laptop, cell phone, duct tape & yarn. (what?) Collins was IPod touch, cell phone and IPod touch. Are you seeing the same trend here that I am? First is they are really spoiled, second is they are only asking for big ticket items (except for the yarn & duct tape but we are going to pretend that wasn't asked for). Fun for them, much less fun for us not only in the buying but also because they are yet more things that are waaay more fun than we are. Both of the boys got an IPpod touch, Collin has been asking no begging for one as long as I can remember. I thought he was going to explode when he opened it (damn near a "It's a Woody" moment). Taryn was a little more subdued, he wasn't jonesing for a touch just a new IPod. On Christmas day night is when they got to open them and no kidding by the time they went to bed Taryn had something like 17 apps and Collin had 12 and both of their batteries were in the red. With NO music yet. All of the following day was spend surfing football and miscellaneous dog breed websites (Taryn) and killing as many pygmies as one possibly could (Collin) both batteries completely gone again. As much as fun as it is, I'm glad it's over. The count down will begin again sooner than we realize, I'm betting the retailers start the push right after Labor day this year.
